Peer Review Group for the Inquiry Projects.

Hi All,

Just seeing if there is any other interest from VINTA members to be on the Peer Review group for the Inquiry Projects.

This is not a committee and has no democratic representation, but has value in the discussions taking place.
Currently Stacia Johnson and I are part of the group, but there is room for other interested members.
Please let me know if you are interested.

Next meeting is set for December 1.

Cheers,

Shawn Gough

An Invitation to the African Tribunal Film

From: Bonnie Quan Symons
Date: November 6, 2014 at 11:20:17 AM PST
To: “BCTF Social Justice Contacts”

Subject: An Invitation to the Tribunal Film

Hello,

Please see the invite below to a film screening in Vancouver.

 African Grandmothers

The film features the courageous African grandmothers who gave powerful and emotional testimonies at the African Grandmothers Tribunal in Vancouver, BC in 2013. This moving new documentary shines a light on the urgent need to provide better protection for the human rights of African grandmothers who, after watching their adult children die of AIDS, have become the primary caregivers for millions of orphaned grandchildren.

Special Invitation

Saturday, November 22nd
Film screening begins at 3 p.m.
UBC Robson Square Theatre
(800 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC)
All day parking is available at Robson Square for $4.50

Join us afterwards for an engaging Q&A with Ilana Landsberg-Lewis (SLF Executive Director & Co-Founder) and Justine Ojambo (National Director, Phoebe Education Fund for Orphans, Uganda).

Before the film screening, shop in the Artisan Marketplace (10 am–4 pm) at UBC Robson Square. The Greater Van Gogos will be selling handcrafted items from Canada and Africa, including tote bags, jewellery, and children’s gifts. Proceeds support the SLF’s grassroots partners who are turning the tide of AIDS in Africa.

To receive your complimentary tickets and reserved seating, please RSVP as soon as possible — tickets are limited. RSVP to Sarah Layton at rsvp@stephenlewisfoundation.org or call 1-888-203-9990 ext 308.
